Today, I arrived at the temple 45 minutes before my assigned session began. I had plenty of time to read and ponder while sitting in the chapel of the temple. While reading section 109 of the Doctrine and Covenants, I discovered 25 blessings to be sought by those of God’s people who worship in the temple regularly. Each of these are separate and distinct blessings. I don’t know why it has taken me so long to discover this list, but I will diligently strive to apply what I have read:
(I love the first one on this list. I will never forget the first time I entered the temple. As soon as I crossed the threshold, I felt glory, light and power wash over me--as the scriptures teach, it felt like a mighty wind or great rushing waters.)
1. All people who shall enter the temple, across the threshold of the Lord’s house, will feel God’s power, and feel constrained to acknowledge that He has sanctified it
2. Those who shall worship in the temple will be taught words of wisdom
3. His people will learn even by study, and also by faith
4. His people will grow up in God and receive a fullness of the Holy Ghost
5. His people will be organized according to God’s laws
6. His people will be prepared to obtain every needful thing
7. All the incomings of God’s people, into the temple, will be in the name of the Lord
8. All their outgoings from the temple will be in the name of the Lord
9. All of their salutations will be in the name of the Lord, with holy hands, uplifted to the Most High
10. When God’s people transgress, any of them, they may speedily repent and return unto Him, and find favor in his sight, and be restored to the blessings which He hast ordained to be poured out
11. His people will go forth from the temple armed with God’s power
12. God’s name will be upon His people
13. God’s glory will be round about His people
14. Heaven’s angels will have charge over His people
15. His people will bear exceedingly great and glorious tidings, in truth, unto the ends of the earth
16. His people will know God’s work, and that He hast put forth His hand, to fulfill that which He hast spoken by the mouths of the prophets, concerning the last days
17. No weapon formed against His people shall prosper
18. He who digs a pit for them shall fall into the same himself
19. No combination of wickedness shall have power to rise up and prevail over God’s people upon whom His name shall be put
20. If any shall rise against His people, His anger will be kindled against them
21. He will fight for His people as He did in the day of battle, that His people will be delivered from the hands of all their enemies
22. The anointing of His ministers will be sealed upon His people with power from on high
23. The gift of tongues will be poured out upon His people, even cloven tongues as of fire, and the interpretation thereof
24. His people will be delivered from the calamity of the wicked
25. His anointed ones will be clothed with salvation, and His saints will shout aloud for joy
